Did you know you can save thousands annually on groceries alone? And all thanks to the right credit card!

Banks in the UAE have launched some great credit cards that offer a high cashback-earning potential on your grocery-shopping, among other benefits. But given the number of choices available, choosing one or picking the right mix can often be confusing. Which is why we’ve simplified things for you.

In this article, we’ve shortlisted the credit cards that offer some of the highest cashback percentages on your supermarket purchases. Read on to find the best one for yourself…

HSBC Cashback Credit Card

You get 3% cashback on supermarket purchases made with this credit card. The maximum supermarket-linked cashback is limited to AED 200 per month. There’s no annual fee for the first year, and the AED 299 fee for subsequent years can also be waived if you spend at least AED 12,000 on the card annually. This card also has two unique features unlike most others on this list – There’s no minimum spend criteria to be eligible for cashback, and the cashback earned is automatically credited into your credit card account every month.

Standard Chartered Platinum Credit Card

This credit card gets you 10% cashback on all supermarket purchases made in the UAE, with a potential to earn back up to AED 400 in cashback per month – This translates into annual savings of up to AED 4,800. To qualify for cashback, you will have to spend a minimum of AED 2,500 per month on this credit card (overall expenditure, not just supermarket spend). While there is no annual fee for the first year, you’ll have to pay an annual AED 525 subsequently.

This credit card goes one step further and includes both local and international supermarket spend under its 10% cashback offer. You can earn up to AED 200 per month in supermarket cashback alone or AED 2,400 annually. This is subject to meeting an overall minimum spend criteria of AED 2,500 on the card per month. The annual fee is set at AED 299.

CBD Super Saver Credit Card

Here’s another credit card that earns you 10% cashback on supermarket purchases, among other spend categories (bills, education and transport). You can earn a maximum cashback of AED 200 per month, saving you up to AED 2,400 annually. However, it may be trickier to qualify for the 10% cashback on this card – You must meet the minimum monthly spend criteria of AED 3,000 (excluding the four categories mentioned above). There’s an annual fee of AED 800 on this card, but new-to-bank customers can have their first year fee waived.

RAKBANK World Credit Card

This credit card gets you 10% cashback on all your supermarket spend, both within and outside the UAE. However, the cashback qualification here is based on a tiered spend structure – Minimum monthly spend between AED 15,000-19,999 gets you 5% cashback (maximum AED 200 per month). Only if you spend upwards of AED 20,000 per month, can you qualify for the 10% cashback (maximum AED 400 per month). There’s no annual fee for the first year, and the AED 750 fee for subsequent years can also be waived if you spend at least AED 50,000 on the card annually.
