Summer holidays are here and the kids are jumping with joy. But before you know it boredom will kick in and you’ll hear them complaining.  Sooner or later you will be running out of ways for keeping the little ones occupied during the long holidays and before you do, here are a few ideas for you.

1) Put on your sports shoes

The soaring temperatures can make you lazy enough to ditch outdoor activities and cling to your AC, but with all the indoor alternatives available this summer, it’s no excuse!  Head to the Dubai Sports World at Dubai World Trade and enroll your kids in the Just Play Sports Camp for a day packed with thrilling activities across the sports arena. The camp aims to make fitness fun for all age groups with activities such as football, gymnastics, volleyball, table tennis, dodgeball, yoga along with fun games and more.

2) Get creative at home

Arts and crafts are sometimes messy but always fun! Inspire your little ones to run wild with their imagination this summer. Gather all the crafting material at one place – pens, colors, glitter, papers, cardboard, glue, scissors and collaborate with them on a creative family project. There are tons of DIY ideas on the internet, why not start with making post cards for family that lives outside UAE?

If you want to take art outside the house, you could visit places like The Jam Jar or Café Ceramique where kids can indulge in painting and you can make an outing out of it.

3) Special summer offers -Dubai Summer Surprises

Discounts and offers- the two words buzzing this summer! Outings have become more affordable with summer promotions taking off just in time for summer holidays. Explore summer offers at Dubai Parks and Resorts with tickets starting at AED 85 (until 31 August 2017). Also, check out their bundled offers where you can enjoy 2 parks for the price of one.

4) Explore new areas

Got no plans to travel this summer? How about plan trips within the UAE. This way you can explore the hidden gems in the country – the lesser known but worth a visit spots.  Some of these include: The Wathba Wetland Reserve, Jabeel Hafeet, Al Qudra lakes, Umm Al Quwain Fort, Dubai Museum, Al Ain Zoo amongst others.

5) Sign up for summer camp

If you’re a working parent and are looking for something along the lines of a set routine for your younger ones for the holidays- summer camps are a great idea! Most summer camps in the UAE ideally offer a good mix of learning and fun activities such as dance, theatre, drama, cooking, swimming, sports as well as fitness, robotics, reading clubs and educational projects.

6) Teach a skill

This summer get your kids to learn a skill or two. From cooking and photography, to public speaking, advanced writing and graphic designing. Short courses are a good idea if you wish to focus on nurturing a particular skill set for your child.

7) Learn a new language

Summer holidays mean plenty of spare time which could be put to good use. This summer, give your kids that added advantage by enrolling them into a new language course. Want to spend more time with your kids? Consider taking the class together and making it more interactive and fun instead of just another study lesson.
