School fees are the thing parents complain most often about, according to the Dubai education authority.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said it had had some 948 complaints since the beginning of 2014 – 167 (18 percent) about school fee issues.

Other issues annoying parents are student admissions (130 or 14 percent), health and safety and school administration (115 or 12 percent each), Emirates 24/7 reported.

In August, Souqalmal.com’s survey showed fees were 40 percent of parents’ biggest back to school nightmare.

The KHDA introduced the parent-school contract, which currently covers 24 schools and 38,624 students, in June and says complaints have dropped 20 percent as a result.
