With the sun blazing down upon us furiously, there is no doubt to the fact that summer is here. And with summer comes the much awaited holiday period for children across the UAE.

If you’re looking for some fun yet productive activities for your kids to enjoy this summer, here is a look at some of the holiday camps that you can consider:

Theme: Language

Want your kids to learn a new language or brush up their existing language skills? Enrol them into one of these language camps. You could even send older children for an educational vacation to France!

  • A four week course starting from 21 June 2015 to 16 July 2015.
  • Classes are from Sunday to Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm.
  • Children between three to 15 years are accepted into the course.
  • The course includes two hours of Arabic reading, writing, and speaking and one hour of gym.
  • The course fee is AED 2,400.
  • Apply before 20 May 2015 for a 10% discount on fees.
  • Transport is not included.

 
Multilingual story reading sessions in English, Arabic, French and German. The Children’s Garden in Green Community, Dubai.
  • From 28 June 2015 to 16 July 2015, The Children’s Garden nursery offers the ‘Superstars’ programme for children between three to six years and the ‘Little Stars’ programme for children aged two or two and a half.
  • Timings are from 9 am to 2 pm.
  • Other activities such as art and craft workshops, dance, science, photography and swimming are included.
  • You can register online.
  • The one week programme costs AED 1,150. For two weeks it is AED 2,200, and for three weeks it is AED 2,900.
  • Drop off and pick up facility is included in above prices.
  • Payment can be made by check or cash. However checks shall be accepted until 3 June 2015. After that only cash payments.
Berlitz Language Camp Berlitz Khalidiyah, Berlitz Muroor, Berlitz Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi.
  • Courses are offered from 29 June to 3 August 2015 for children aged between four to 18 years.
  • Languages taught are English, Spanish, French, Chinese and Arabic.
  • Timings are between 9 am to 3 pm.
  • Course fees start at AED 2,000 and will depend on the level you choose.
French Language Camp Alliance Francais, Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi.
  • Courses are offered from 22 June to 14 July 2015 and between 4 August to 26 August 2015.
  • Available for children aged between four to 14 years.
  • Course fees start at AED 1,595 and will depend on the level you choose.
French Language Camp Alliance Francais, Oud Metha and Mall of the Emirates, Dubai
  • Summer camp will be offered mid June onwards. Dates have not been announced yet.
  • You can check in the first week of June with the Oud Metha branch on 043358712 or the Mall of the Emirates branch on 043414666.
French Summer Language Programme Ecole des Roches in Normandy, France.
  • In June, July or August, you can send your child to France to learn about the culture and the language. The Summer French Language Programme is designed for students between eight to 18 years.
  • You can choose between three, five, six and nine week programmes.
  • The course includes french lessons, sports activities, social activities and sight seeing (Disneyland, ancient Paris and Versailles).
  • You can register online.
  • Three week programme costs start at AED 17,400 and nine week programme costs start at AED 44,050.
  • Price includes only tuition, full board, activities and transport within the programme. However, airfare is not included.
  • There is an additional deposit of AED 1,000.

  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 27 August 2015  for children aged between four to 14 years.
  • Each day, five activities shall be conducted in a group of 15 to 17 children. Each activity will be of 45 minutes long. Activities include football, basketball, swimming, tennis, dodgeball and team building.
  • Timings are from 9 am to 1.30 pm.

  • Prices start from AED 150 a day or AED 650 a week.
  • You can opt for pick up and drop off facility at an additional cost of AED 250 per week.
  • You are required to bring your own swimwear, lunch, snack and water bottle.

  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 27 August 2015  for children aged between four to 14 years.
  • Activities include football, basketball, swimming, tennis and group trips.
  • Timings are from 8.30 am to 2 pm.

  • Prices start from AED 150 a day or AED 650 a week.
  • Get a 10% discount on booking above four consecutive weeks.
  • Get a 20% discount for siblings on weekly bookings.
Diving Summer Camp from Du Dive  Hamdan Sports Complex
  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 27 August 2015  for all age groups.
  • Timings are in two batches: Half day between 9.45 am to 12 pm and Full day between 9.45 am to 3 pm.
  • Activities offered are trampolining, gymnastics and pool diving.
  • Prices for half day are AED 130 per day and AED 600 per week.
  • Prices for full day AED 230 per day and AED 1,000 per week.

  • Bring your own swimwear, towel and water.
Multi-activity camp from Heartbeat sports Nord Anglia International School
  • This camp will start on 2 August and run until 28 August 2015  for children between five to 14 years.
  • Timings are from 8.30 am to 2 pm.
  • Activities include rugby, athletics, football, basketball, badminton and tag games.
  • Prices start from AED 150 a day or AED 650 a week.

Theme: Performing Arts

Let your little ballerina flourish on stage by registering her for a dance, drama or singing workshop. Be sure to check with the provider if stage performances are included.

Dance, singing and drama workshops from Diverse Choreography. Diverse Studios, Dubai
  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 16 July 2015 for children aged five to 14 years.
  • Timings are from 9 am to 3 pm.
  • Activites include singing, dancing, drama on a ‘Frozen’ theme. Also T-shirt decoration and booklet designing.
  • Fees are AED 800 for Diverse students and AED 900 for non-Diverse students.
Theatre workshop from Drama Scene Dubai DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai
  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 15 July 2015 for children aged four to 12 years.
  • Timings are from 8.30 am to 2 pm.
  • Each week will offer a different theme based workshop. Activities include acting, music, prop and costume making.
  • There will be a showcase of performances at the end of every week.
  • Cost per week is AED 960.
  • This includes a free T-shirt.
Story telling and creative writing workshops. The Gaia Performing Arts Training Centre, Oud Metha, Dubai.
  • This camp will start on 28 June and run until 24 July 2015 for children aged seven to 18 years.
  • Classes are three times a week (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday) from 10 am to 12 pm.
  • Activities include art, drama, comic art, communication and more.
  • The camp cost is AED 1,500.
