Motorists pay 13% more for car insurance this year

Earlier this year the UAE Insurance Authority announced a hike in the insurance tariffs introduced January 1st of 2017. The new tariff instated that insurers minimum comprehensive premium of AED 1,300 on sedans and AED 2,000 on SUV’s. It was reported that about 35% of the UAE drivers would have to pay more for car insurance in 2017. As a result of car insurance providers increasing their rates, reports of car owners paying more on their insurance premiums comparing H1 of this year to H1,2016 have circulated the country.

DHA- Free medical treatment for residents in Dubai with ‘limited means’

On Tuesday, the 1stth of August 2017, following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed 2017 being “The Year of Giving” Dubai Health Authority has collaborated with 10 private health facilities to provide free medical treatment to individuals with low financials and limited psychological and social means. The initiative named Ataa’ w Sa’ada (Giving and Happiness) estimated an increase of the number of facilities to reach 26 hospitals and clinics by the end of the year.

 

Sharjah installs new smart radars to target traffic violators.

In light of the new UAE traffic law regulation effective July 1st, the emirate of Sharjah has begun installing new smart radar systems to cope with the updated list of violations and road rules. The radar can now be seen on all roads across Sharjah and has the capability to capture videos and pictures of the already existing speeding laws in addition to capturing passengers or drivers not wearing the seatbelt, mobile phone use while driving, tailgating and not leaving enough distance between vehicles and many others. The authorities hope that residents are aware that these measures are taken to decrease the death and accident toll that occur yearly across the Emirates
