Insuring a car in Dubai has become a quick and straightforward process. You can now get an insurance quote and eventually your policy online without having to leave your home or office.
But what if you and your family members own more than one car? How do you insure multiple cars without spending an exorbitant amount of money and going through endless administrative formalities?
Multiple cars, multiple drivers – What discounts can you get?
Some insurance companies in the UAE offer discounts for every additional car that you insure. This discount is applicable on cars owned by members of the same family and typically ranges from 5-10 percent.
As per the UAE Traffic Law, the car registration and car insurance policy must be in the same person’s name. If there are three cars registered in the names of three different family members, the insurer will generate three separate quotes for each and apply the discount on the two additional policies purchased.
If only one family member owns the three cars, the three car insurance policies will be issued in his/her name. A similar discount will apply in this case too. Immediate family members will be automatically covered if the driver is above 25 years of age and has more than one year of driving experience in the UAE. This condition may vary from one insurer to another, so make sure you read the policy document carefully.

Some insurance companies and brokers in the UAE also offer an overall discount if you move all or majority of your insurance business to them. This could include multiple car insurance policies, home insurance for one or more properties, as well as health insurance for all family members.
This is a form of loyalty discount from the insurance provider. It is a win-win for both the insurer and the customers, where the former gets more business and the latter, a more pocket-friendly solution to all their insurance requirements.
